Une très grande variété de mamifères marins et notamment de dauphins vivent autour de Mayotte, certains uniquement à l’extérieur du lagon tels que les dauphins Stenelles, les Péponocéphales, les Globicéphales vivent en groupe de 10 à 300 individus (voir plus selon l’espèce), d’autres à l’intérieur et dans les baies, tels que les Tursiops et les dauphins à Bosse, qui vivent eux en petit groupe.
